American wants European organic food

Dear Mark,

I wish it was easy for me to help you, but since 9/11, it's become almost impossible for companies to import organic foods into the United States of America from any country outside, including America's closest allies, the United Kingdom. The American Bio- Terrorism Act stipulates that every single food item imported to the US must come from an inspected facility, and be packaged with a one- off barcode.

The idea is to protect Americans from any possible foods purposefully contaminated by terrorists. The practical result is that it's impossible to import any food products into America that are not supported by a large multinational corporation, or a major importer.

I suggest you support local organic farmers, perhaps from states with less GM contamination.
