Soya plantations
In the superfood section you include soya. I read it in the national newspaper of my country (which is a good non-biased one) that vast amounts of forests are cleared for soybean plantations in S America. Which is bad... very baaad. I hope this at least warrants that you look into the matter. No good being organic when that means kicking mother nature in the guts.
I couldn't agree with you more. Rampaging the planet is exactly what we at organicfoodee.com hate most about bad food policies. Organic soya beans could in theory be grown on land that is cleared rainforest territory. But think about it. If you are a farmer who can be bothered to go to all the extra work of growing non-GM organic soya beans, would you choose a piece of land that's tainted with nature devastation, or a nice field appropriate for organic farming and biodiversity? I reckon it's a safe bet that most organic soya crops are from nice eco-sensitive fields, whichever country you are in.
