Exporting Polish organics to the UK
I am a Brit, although I live in Poland where I work as a translator. During my time here, I have noticed how Polish fruit and vegetables taste much much better than the crap I was used to buying in Sainsbury's when I lived in the UK. This is because most of it is organically grown. I find it saddening that EU directives will probably change all this in the future, but what can you do?
The local market sells fruit and vegetables for next to nothing, and it occured to me how expensive organic food in Britain is. I wonder if there would be any viable business opportunities for me locating organic producers here and helping them to find distributors in the uk. I would find this a tremendously satisfying job because I would feel that I was doing something positive for people. Making some money out of it would also be nice. I know a local farm, for example, that produces organic honey, and sells it for absolute peanuts. Surely there is a market for this stuff in the uk?
Best Regards

Dear Matt
It sounds to me like you're onto a good idea... particularly for Polish ingredients that are less frequently grown here in the UK. Perhaps you've noticed unusual or heirloom varieties of fruit and vegetables over in Poland that simply aren't available in the UK. I suggest you start researching which foods are grown in your area that would be attractive to the UK market. Once you've done this, contact an organic certification board such as the Soil Association to find out more about certification and trading protocols.
Best of luck with this new business
Ysanne
