Organic trust
I'm looking for a Site I can trust. I've no problem with the credibility of the Site, but do you have any words to assure me that the e-commerce is actually organic.
Are there a series of questions that a customer should ask?
Have you considered asking for Volunteer local "auditors" to verify the organic nature. I carry out audits on Pharmaceutical manufactures. With a pre-set audit protocol, I assume auditing a farming site would not be too difficult. Especially as I would like to shop there anyway.
This would obviously mean having to have auditeer verification - appeal procedures - etc - etc.
Realize that if the farmer wants to cheat, they can, however it may be a way of at lest making life harder for the cheats?
Paul Evans
At the end of the day, if anyone wants to cheat, they can. But with organic food, it's as sure as it possibly can be.
To claim that food is organic it has to be certified with an organic certification board. This certification means that inspectors go down to the farm at regular intervals to verify the farm's organic practices. If a farmer sells produce as organic when it is not, they are risking imprisonment. So organic food doesn't need to have volunteer auditors. It has a rigorous professional auditing system in place that is legally bound.
The Trade Descriptions Act also protects the consumer with all other aspects of organic food retailing, including e-commerce.
