Organic compost

It's all down to how organic you want your garden compost to be. If you use scraps that are only from organic produce, you can be sure that the compost will be virtually chemical free. If you use scraps from non-organic produce, the reulting compost will have traces of chemicals. Whether that's okay or not is a matter of personal choice. But personally, if you're going to go through the process of making your own compost, I'd want it to be organic.
