Japanese Burdock root
Hi there
I'm writing in regard to the topic where to find Burdock root, and your coment was that it is very hard here in UK. I bring you glad news. There are Japanese supermarkets. In Japan Burdock root is eaten close to every day in my wifes family. When first tasting it I melted, the most lovely flavour ever. I wanted to know what it really was and after a bit of research I found that it was Burdock root.
So now I will give you the secret. Burdock root in Japanese is named GOBO it should be pronounced short (Gollom's GO, bottom's BO). You can get it in places like Japan Center Piccadilly.
Good luck
Christoffer and Shoko
Hi Christopher,
Thanks so much for this suggestion. Although burdock root sold in most Japanese supermarkets in the UK is not organic, burdock root is rarely cultivated with chemicals as it's so easy to grow. It is indeed delicious and so good for you. It's certainly better to have non-organic burdock root than no burdock root, so I'm grateful for your suggestion.
Best wishes
Ysanne
