Hello there,
I’ve been researching ma huang as a weigh loss aid and after reading a wide range of reports i’ve decided I would like to try it. My health is good, there is no history of ilness in my family and i’ve slightly low blood pressure so i think I would be ok taking it in low dosage. However i’m concerned about where to purchase it. I want a high quality source of the supplement – when I buy vitamines I always buy reputable brands such as Solgar. But I’m not aware of “reputable” suppliers of ma huang. Can you recommend a brand/online seller of this supplement, prefereably in the uk? many thanks in advance for your assistance.

Hi Kate,
The best way to lose weight is to eat more organic vegetables and get more exercise. This really is the only tried and true method. Eat less bad stuff and exercise more.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (also known as TCM) is a very learned science, and is often just as effective as any other branch of medicine. Instead of experimenting with Chinese medicines by buying ma huang over the counter, you may wish to consult a qualified TCM practitioner to see if they can help you.
However, they’re unlikely to prescribe ma huang, as it’s simply the Chinese name for ephedra, and as such is a major stimulant that can cause high blood pressure leading to reactions such as strokes. I certainly do not recommend you self-prescribe ma huang.
I hope this helps.
Best wishes
