Am I the only one who loves poached eggs? They’re so simple to prepare, and are so elegant for a long Sunday breakfast.
For perfect poached eggs, drop a tablespoon of vinegar into a medium sized pan of simmering water, then swirl with a wooden spoon. When the whirlpool has subsided to a minimal little spin, gently crack the egg into the middle of it. Adjust the heat as necessary to keep the water simmering gently… If it’s boiling too vigorously, the bubbles will disturb the egg too much, ruining it’s ability to remain a single mass. After 3 minutes, lift the egg out with a slotted spoon, and serve on a bed of organic mixed leaves. Drizzle with hot hollandaise sauce, then serve for a happy weekend brunch.

I really enjoy reading your blog, it always has great insight. But I am very frustrated with the fact that so few people are talking about presidential candidates and their thoughts on global warming. Now that it is down to just a few candidates I would think that this would be a bigger issue.
Live Earth just picked up this topic and put out an article ( www.liveearth.org/news.php ) live earth is also asking why the presidential candidates are not being solicited for their stance on the issue of the climate change. I just saw a poll on www.EarthLab.com that says people care a lot about what their next leader thinks of global warming. Does anyone know of another poll or other results about this subject?
Here is the page where I saw the EarthLab poll: www.earthlab.com/life.aspx. This is a pretty legit website; they are endorsed by Al Gore and the alliance for climate protection and they have a carbon footprint calculator. Does anyone have a strong opinion about this like I do? No matter what your political affiliation is or who you vote for this is an important issue for our environment, our economy and for homeland security.

Hi Alex,
I am so happy you’ve brought this up. I’m a Brit living in Los Angeles, California, and I’m intensely interested in the American election, particularly with a hope the the new government will address climate change.
My biggest hope is that the Democrats win, and that whoever is President, whether it’s Obama or Clinton, will publicly invite Al Gore to become National Climate Advisor.
This is a major issue not just for America, but for the survival of the human race.

Hi. I learned a lot from this open letter (tinyurl.com/ys8tqj) to Hillary Clinton which passionately pulls together many of the real food issues facing the US. It made me realise how Hillary will probably pursue multinational-business-as-usual. Obama does promise a break from this multinational past. (Whether he will be “allowed” to deliver is another matter). We in the UK are avidly following the US elections. My great concern is that we focus too much on the personalities instead of the policies.
